A5 #aboerjc In the USA #GoOpen initiative for K-12 there are ambassador states to support newer states – so a mentoring model even at a high level ( big oer) not just educator level(little oer).
Cordelia Snowdon @CordeliaSnowdon6dReplying to @Cambrian_Jess
#ABOERJC A5: I also think it makes sense to target advocacy and find ways to focus efforts. We struggled with our advocacy it we tried to appeal to all profs – but there are many who will never be convinced to experiment with their approach to teaching.

Q5: Please share your reactions to the excerpt below (p. 144). If faculty are more likely to adopt OER-EP if they can engage with powerful examples, what can institutions, practitioners, learning designers & advocates do to support open practices beyond OER adoption? #ABOERJC
Cordelia Snowdon @CordeliaSnowdon6dReplying to @Cambrian_Jess
#ABOERJC It’s an important question. I think that the invitation can still be there but it needs to be clear so students can be consenting collaborators in the process and not just engaging because they think they have to
Rosemarri Klamn, MAPC, CPHR she/her/hers @KlamnJam6d
#aboerjc A4: For #openaccess #OEP-EP enthusiasts it may be an opportunity to draw others into #OEP; it may be daunting for others who do not know where to begin, or feel they do not have the time, confidence, or ability to make the shift. @DoctorDoood @DocBlom @egchristiansenJess O’Reilly @Cambrian_Jess

A4. I’m struggling with this. In the midst of a global pandemic, is it appropriate to invite students to work in ways that are non-standard and potentially public? Will this just add to the stress or increase the perceived relevance? I know both statements will hold true #ABOERJC

#ABOERJC A4: Since we already have so many online courses and MOOCs, I don’t imagine there will be a huge increase. If anything I think we might see a decrease because it is exhausting to maintain a high engagement and commitment to online work right now

#aboerjc A4: I was thinking that the idea of “video tutorials” might translate nicely in our pandemic context. If students engage in creating these now it may help future students if the online format continues beyond Winter 2021 at traditionally in-person institutions. 1/?

#aboerjc Moving away from textbooks is a challenge – creating #OER #OEP can be so also. #ABOERJC I feel like that’s an effort to try to challenge perceptions of OER as poor quality. ‘Looking’ like a traditional textbook may make people more comfortable because it will align with expectations about what teaching materials ‘should’ look like
